To the family of a wonderful man. John impacted my life in so many tremendous ways and was unique from anyone I've ever known. I still smile everytime I think of him and have fond memories of the time we spent together. To Sophia, I don't know if you remember me, but I met your father when you were around five years old living in West Seattle. I truly adored you and loved your father dearly. I'm so very very sorry to learn he is no longer with us. I will never forget him nor the two of you together. Love to you Beth ox

It's been so many years, but my memories of John are clear. His smile, his compassion and his ability to be a friend/or big brother to anyone that needed it! Blessings

So long, John. You were quiet and clear--so quiet that I wouldn't hear you at first, but later, when I was alone, your words came back to me with the weight and sincerity of your entire life. That gave them a truth that more than made up for the softness of your voice. Thank you.

To John's family - there's a big hole in his community and in the lives of everyone he touched. I only knew him for a short time through Seattle Thunder organizing the democracy festivals - big and small. John was one of the most sincere and purposeful people I have ever met, making this world a better place in so many little thoughtful ways, as well as being a frequent dedicated volunteer in many diverse community venues. His mocasins have left a bright shiny path of good works for others to follow.

I briefly (and barely) knew John many years ago (36!) when we worked together on the Seattle Times sales crew as high school students. I was friends with John's older brother Tom, and both Tom and I tried bringing our younger brothers into the fold. Neither of them lasted very long, as I recall, which made them smarter than us. When I saw today's article in the Seattle P.I. and read on this site about John's life since those adolescent days, I was deeply moved and humbled by what he'd gone on to accomplish in life. What a powerful example of grace, dignity and compassion--and what an inspiration and reminder to us all that every day presents another opportunity to make the world a better place. Rest in peace, my friend.

These are certainly WOW testimonials about John. Though he is my cousin, I never knew him personally living so far away. But I can see from the testimonials that he was special and that his life is a testimony to that of his parents, George and Theresa, who have given all their children exceptional values and lessons in living. My love and prayers to his family.
