Boise, Idaho Dear Nancy, Bruce, Cary, and families,
I had the pleasure and incredible honor of getting to know your mum this past year. Her sense of humor, the twinkle in her eyes, her beautiful smile and warm heart were the first things I saw in Hope. I could tell she had a life full of fun, surrounded by love and can guarantee she was an inspiration to everyone whose lives she touched - she certainly touched mine. One thing we definitely had in common was a love of animals, as we shared stories about our pets. I know her beloved pets from the past met her at the Rainbow Bridge and she is again the free spirit she always has been. My thoughts and prayers are with you all - Hope was an incredibly, wonderful person that will be terribly missed.

St. John MUM a spontaneous poem by Liberty Bryer
MUM.......
MUM'S THE ONE, THE ONE WHO CARRIED US TO THIS EARTHLY PLACE
MUM'S A FLOWER
MUM'S THE WORD
MUM'S OUR MOM
MUM'S ANOTHER BEING, THAT WE MAY REALIZE LATER IN OUR DAYS, THAT LIKE OURSELVES, MAY NOT HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHAT LIFE AND LOVE ARE REALLY ALL ABOUT, BUT DOES HER BEST TO GUIDE US
MUM SOUNDS LIKE A HUMMMMMM, THAT SOFT VIBRATION THAT CAN TICKLE OUR LIPS
MUM'S THE ONE THAT SOME OF OUR GIRLHOOD FRIENDS REALLY LIKED AND WE COULDN'T FOR OUR LIVES FIGURE OUT WHY... UNTIL WE WERE OUT IN THE WORLD ON OUR OWN
MUM'S THERE WITH US, FROM TIME TO TIME TAPPING US ON OUR SHOULDER AND REFLECTING OUR LIFE AND EXPERIENCES TO US, REMINDING US TO PAY ATTENTION.
MUM'S OUR SISTERS AND BROTHERS MUM TOO
MUM ......
MUM'S THE ONE!
Blessings and warm love to you Cary!

 Minnesota Dear Cary
I am so very, very sorry to hear of your Mom's death! There are no words sufficient to touch that sacred and painful moment; just please know that I too care. You have been such a faithful, wonderful daughter - she must have been VERY proud of you; And perhaps I 'know' her just a bit better because those apples don't fall far from the tree, a truism over the years.
much love, Joyce and Dick

 Los Angeles Dear Cary,
I still recall the memorable visit from your mom when we were roommates in Hartford. Hope had such energy and was so spirited and full of life! We had so much fun together! Plus, such a voice and laugh!
You and your siblings were blessed to have such a smart , caring, and compassionate mother. Your mom truly lived up to her name, Hope. I know that you will keep her spirit always in your hears.
Much love to you and your family.
Blessings and warm hugs, Maria Orefice

Connecticut Sending love especially to Cary and Barb and the rest of the family on your recent loss of your mom, friend, grandmother - and much more.. We loved reading the obituary and learning more about Hope's life. Hope had a full and adventurous life with a great sense of justice and equality - and it seems as though she really embraced the value of carpe diem Losing a parent is hard but you all have a loving support system to hold you during this sad time.
Love, Carolyn and Leslie

Bellevue Dear Cari, Nancy and Bruce,
Remember back to elementary school days? That's when your Mom and I worked together as fellow co-chairs of the Home and Garden Tour, sponsored by the Clyde Hill, Medina and Three Points Schools. I came to love and respect her then, and our friendship continued through your friendship with Marcia. In the neighborhood, it was always "Hope's house" when we walked by, and I recall going to a big birthday celebration there. Your Mom always had a big smile on her face and a husky laugh that was infectious. May her joy and zest for life live on through each of you--she leaves us all the precious gift of cherishing each day and making a difference in the lives of those around her. Her friendship, outreach to others and example of spirit and grace in the face of hardship are just some of the precious gifts she leaves to us.
We share in your sadness with her death and wish blessings to each of you as you carry her loving spirit forward in your own lives.

Lake Stevens, WA Thinking back to years past, I remember my Auntie Hope in many different ways. Through the eyes of a child thoughts of fun times come to mind. I think the phrase "never a dull moment" would be accurate. A trip to the Chapin house was always something to look forward to.
Now as I think of her, I get an overwhelming feeling of love. Her love of life was contagious and I'm pretty sure Auntie Hope was the poster child for FUN.
I am so grateful for the time she shared herself with me and my family. What wonderful memories. I will always have her in my heart.
With love to all the family, Steve
