David Yakel

June 04, 1925 - January 04, 2010

Always ready with a new joke to share who will be missed by many

David was born in Littleton, CO, to Henry and Anna Marie, both German-Russian immigrants. David and his three brothers and five sisters were all raised on a farm in the Box Elder area of CO.
He joined the Marines in 1943, saw action in the Pacific Theater and was discharged in 1946 with a Purple Heart still carrying shrapnel in his shoulder.
In 1953 he met and married Jeannette (Jay) Nazley in Denver, CO. A job with Boeing brought him and Jay to the Burien area in 1963. After 25 years with Boeing, he took early retirement, did some fishing and worked on his home on 160th St. Using the lumber from a house he bought for $25 and demolished, he built his garage and felt very proud of his accomplishment.
Collecting coins, gardening, playing pool and cabbitzing with friends and neighbors (always ready with a new joke to share) were some of David's favorite activities. He will be missed by many.
David is survived by his sisters, Susan Triebelhorn (93) of Tacoma and Helen McMullen (88) of Hayward, CA, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
