The Green Burial Council
The Green Burial Council is the best resource for understanding ecologically responsible burials. The Council was the first to see burial as a new means of protecting natural areas. This independent, non-profit organization has worked with environmentalists, conservationists, scientists, lawyers, and academics to create the first eco-certification program for burial grounds, burial products, and funeral homes.
A Sacred Moment is proud to be one of the Green Burial Council’s approved death-care providers. Char and her staff have been supporters of the Council since its inception. Together with its founder, Joe Sehee, Char worked collaboratively on a GBC advisory board to help bring the concept of green practices to the modern-day funeral industry.
National Home Funeral Alliance
Founded by Char Barrett and other leaders in the home funeral movement, the National Home Funeral Alliance is committed to protecting a family’s innate right to care for their own dead. Its mission is to reconnect to our heritage and promote environmentally sound and culturally nurturing death-care practices.
NHFA’s annual conferences offer education, training, and networking opportunities to help strengthen communication between home funeral guides, the funeral industry, and families and communities worldwide.
