Loren Grant Langland
August 5, 1936 - December 30, 2020
Loren was born August 5, 1936 in Garfield, Washington, he went home to be with the Lord December 30, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents Harold Dudley Langland and Marjorie Lotus (Matthews) Langland, brother Harold “Dale” Langland and brother William Allen “Bill” Langland.
Loren was a lifetime resident of Washington State having lived in Garfield, Spokane, Opportunity, Seattle, and Everett.
He graduated High School in 1954 and was drafted into the US Army in the Fall of 1955 and continued serving in the Reserves until May of 1966. He married the love of his life, Mary Louise Gute, May 30, 1958.
He started his career as a Federal Food Inspector for the Department of Agriculture in June of 1965. He served as President of the Western Council of Food Inspectors for the ten Western States and the Pacific Rim countries which represented inspectors in Labor Management Relations.
Loren had a passion for learning and served on several chairs and councils. He was President of Science Decathlon, a TOPS leader, and taught food and safety courses at Shoreline Community College.
Loren was a member of 63 years in the Free Methodist Church where he served in many different capacities and ministries. He loved people and celebrations and made wonderful memories wherever he went.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary; daughter Cindy (David) Kerlee, their children Melissa (John) Hammack, Derek (Wendy) Kerlee, Andrew (Anna) Kerlee; daughter Sandra (Jeff) Elsom, and their children, Rachel Elsom, Sarah (Kyle) McKearney, Isaac (Maria) Elsom, and Stephanie (Levi) Sergeant. As well as 13 great grandchildren.
