Jean Louise CarterJanuary 05, 1936 - November 22, 2014 Nothing Made Her Happier Than a Roomful of Family and ChildrenJean Louise (Campbell) Carter, 78, died peacefully at home surrounded by her children due to multiple chronic illnesses and cancer on November 22, 2014. Jean was a long-time Monroe resident along with her husband Arnold Sr. and their six children. Jean was born in Montgomery, PA, on January 5, 1936. Following her childhood in Pennsylvania, Jean settled in Valdez, Alaska and married her loving husband of 58 years in 1952, Arnold Harvey Carter Sr. at the age of sixteen. The family relocated to Monroe, Washington in 1965 following the devastating Good Friday earthquake in Prince William Sound, Alaska. Jean had a passion for working with children. She retired from Vera's Learn and Play where she made a profound impact on the lives of many local young children and families. She also worked at Flower World and Reinell Boats. Jean was active in the Girl and Boy Scout communities as a scout leader and "cookie mom." Nothing made her happier than a roomful of family and children. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, games, family sourdough pancake breakfasts, and getaways. Jean, Arnie Sr. and the family belonged to the Sky Valley Wanderers jeep club for many years where they made lasting friendships and many happy memories. Jean leaves behind her mother, Elva Sevea (Kennedy, Campbell) Colyer; children, Marla Carter, Lynn Nash, Arnie Carter Jr. (Benita Kanarr), Kathy (Bud) Dyer, Gary (Brenda) Carter, and Gina (Lowell) Lorenz, Grandchildren Ron (Jamie) and Jason Boyes, Jeremy (Jess) Jackson, Erick Nash, Brandon and Kimberly Carter and their mother Karla, Shane and Jayce Flauding, Austin (Brian) Peterson, Brady Carter-Porter and his mother Susie, and Carmen (Craig) Woolman, Kyle Brindle, Leah (Jason) Lunder; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley Smith, Roxanne (Fred) Clingman, and Pamela (Don) Ashton as well as several half siblings. Family that preceded Jean in death are her husband, Arnold Harvey Carter Sr., father, Carl Alfred Campbell and infant brother, Gregory Campbell. The family wishes to give thanks for the support of Evergreen Hospice and Visiting Angels especially Brandy Davies, Ronni Harmer, Kathy Croney and Angela Domina for their friendly, loving care.
