Clive Jerome Berglund

Clive Jerome Berglund of Seattle, WA was born in Isanti, MN on January 21, 1933.  He passed away peacefully on August 24, 2018 at the age of 85.

Clive graduated from Cambridge High School in 1950 and earned a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1955.

After college, he moved from Minnesota to Washington State.  Over the years he worked for Rockwell, Battelle, Westinghouse, Boeing and Culligan, and briefly owned a print shop in Bellevue.

During his life he enjoyed many hobbies, including mountaineering, bowling, photography, flying, boating and bicycling.  He was active in Rails to Trails and volunteered at the Working Waterfront Museum in Tacoma.  Clive was appreciated for his quick wit and maintained his sense of humor to the end of his life. He loved ice cream and Ivar’s Fish & Chips.

Clive was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years Sharleen Berglund, his parents, and one grandson.  He is survived by his children Kurt Van Ness, Catherine Brook, Karla Patton, James Berglund and Janette Harter, as well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Clive is also survived by his brother Donald Berglund and sister Mary Nyberg and their families. The family has celebrated Clive’s life in a small private gathering and scattered his ashes over Puget Sound.
