Charles R. Meyer was a beloved husband, father of eight wonderful children and Grandfather to twenty beautiful grandchildren. He had many fond memories as a child growing up in a quiet, Long Island, NY, Neighborhood full of kids on Blossom Lane. His mother was a teacher and his father owned “CRM Electric Company.” After graduating from South Great Neck High School, he joined the Army 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper and was given a “Top Secret Clearance.” Having completed his service to his country, he attended Hofstra University and graduated with a mechanical engineering degree. He would continue his education by attaining a law degree from the University of Puget Sound; during which time he met the love of his life, Sandra, and soon afterward they married and moved to the beautiful Sky Valley area where he maintained a small private practice.

There, he not only served as a small-town lawyer, but was a Volunteer Fireman, City Attorney, Boy Scout leader, Counselor to the Startup Water District, District Court Judge and transitioned from Charles to Dad.

In a house full of children, Charles did a great job of teaching his kids about life. He taught them good work ethics with everyone working together and contributing in running the “ranch.” He taught them about music as he recited the Reveille trumpet call past all the bedrooms as an early morning wake up call. He taught them about aerodynamics as he lifted them up on his shoulders for bedtime while they pretended to be an airplane down the hall. He taught them about patience with every outing having to include multiple stops around town. Most importantly, he taught them about love and commitment exemplified in his 45 years of marriage and family life.

In his transition from Dad to Grandpa he cherished even more family time. He made as many games and parties as he could. He quietly sat in the corner reading the Sunday paper while kids played at his feet, occasionally trapping one or two of them with his legs just to hear them giggle with glee.

His wisdom, strength, sense of humor and Faith in God will be greatly missed! Grandpa, you are forever loved! Rest in Christ Jesus!
