Donald R. Thornberry

January 23, 1946 – May 10, 2021

On May 10, 2021, the love of my life, Donnie left this earth after a long battle with heart issues.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1946 to William & Helen (Wiggins) Thornberry. He took great joy from his 75 years, loving his life in Everett, WA. Don graduated from Everett High School in 1964. We married in 1981 and celebrated our 40th anniversary last January.

Don was genuinely sweet and pleasant to everyone he encountered. His intelligence and wit always brought a smile to his favorite Starbucks baristas, cashiers, and people he encountered in every setting. He made a person feel special, brightened their day.

He and I loved to travel, his favorite places were the Hawaiian Islands, and the Oregon Coast. Don made everyday a good day just being around him, he made me feel so special. He wrote poems, told jokes, and even gave a roast or two to us. He loved to read and cook. Most recently we would spend time doing crossword puzzles together, drinking our mochas.

His parents and brother, Larry, preceded him in death. Don left behind me, his wife Darlene. Two sons, Marc (Kim) Thornberry & Chris Thornberry. His grandchildren, Jessica & Gunnar. He also left a large void in our family’s hearts, he was a light in our day, so very loved.

After high school, Don became a professional salesman, starting out as a car lot attendant, then sales at Rodland Toyota, Thornberry Motors, & retiring from construction material sales in 2005. He worked at Singer as a traveling sewing machine repair guy back in the day.

As a single dad he raised his two boys who have become wonderful men. They exhibit many of the same endearing traits as their father.

My Donnie was my knight in shining armor. He would always call me his “Sweet Darni” and “My Beautiful Girl”. We did everything together, I’m not sure how to go on without him. To me, he was the most gentle, romantic, loving man anyone could ever hope for in a partner. Our life together was wonderful & magical.

Donnie, We will miss you & Love you forever
