She taught us how to live in the moment and really listen

Hannah Vail McNutt, 16 months old, died in her parents’ arms at home in Seattle, WA on March 21, 2012, after struggling with neural degeneration and epilepsy throughout her short life.

Hannah is the daughter of Greg McNutt and Allyson Brown of Bainbridge Island and Seattle. Hannah loved watching her brother Wes (6), and she enjoyed listening to music, cuddling with soft toys, and being held close by her parents and grandparents. Hannah taught us how to live in the moment and really listen. She was loved by all who met her, and will be greatly missed.

We are grateful to the love and support of the entire care team that supported us, including Providence Hospice Stepping Stones; Seattle Children’s; Seattle Fire Department and Medic One; Airlift Northwest; Ballard Pediatrics; Bainbridge Island Fire Department and Bainbridge Island Pediatrics.

Hannah is survived by her parents Greg McNutt and Allyson Brown, big brother Wes, grandparents Anne and Greg Brown of Bremerton, WA and Marilyn McNutt of Salem, OR, and all of her loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Our very special Hannah touched many hearts. We have created a fund to support the organizations and places that meant so much to us during her short life.

Our plan is to create a place on either side of Puget Sound to look out onto the water and reflect. We envision benches and a small place to sit and cuddle with loved ones.
