Kenneth Robert Young
October 27, 1958 - March 23, 2010
Flying High Ken Young was born in San Francisco, CA on 10/27/58 and died peacefully in Marysville, WA on 3/23/10. He was 51 years old.
He spent his school years living in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from Piner High School in Santa Rosa, CA in 1977. While in high school, he was on the dive team and got his life guard certification. He was also a volunteer fireman and was sometimes on the scene of an accident rendering aid before the ambulance thanks to his scanner. He completed pilot’s ground school at the age of 16 (the youngest age he could) and obtained his private pilot’s license before he was out of high school. He served in the US Air Force for 8 ½ years. During that time, he was a jet engine mechanic, then he went on to become a flight engineer. Ken moved to WA state in the 1990’s. He lived in Snohomish County. He worked for a time with Aerial Balloons in Snohomish. He also worked at Evergreen Manor in Everett and Access Laser in Marysville.
Ken was funny and clever, and he was a lot of fun to be around. He loved photography, flying and fishing. He is survived by mother Bernie Love, Marysville WA; sister Linda Darkhand & nieces Sarah & Gabby Darkhand of Kenmore WA; daughter Katherine Rangel & granddaughter Mariah Rangel of Santa Rosa, CA; daughter Caitlin Ewasko of Cotati, CA; significant other Sarah Johnson of Everett, WA. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Young, in 1990. May he be at peace.
