What is a Life Celebrant?

A Celebrant is a facilitator and guide who tends to the needs of families and friends, to honor their loved one, during their time of loss. Trained and certified, the Celebrant designs and conducts personalized Life Celebration services. Meeting with family and friends, the Celebrant helps express the life story of the individual who has departed through a unique tribute. Many elements may be combined in a service, which may include: stories, music, video tributes, photos, poems, readings, prayers, or rituals. This tribute exemplifies the spirit, uniqueness and significance of the life of the loved one.

Although Celebrants often fulfill the role of clergy in a Life Celebration service, they are not affiliated with any particular religion. A Celebrant can include as much or as little religious content or ritual as the family desires. The choice is in the hands of the family to decide. Celebrants work with family members to create a service intended to be a uniquely personalized, deep and loving remembrance of their loved one.
